SKIN TO STEEL

PAST. PRESENT. FUTURE.

From skin to steel. From memory to structure. From tradition to innovation.

This is not just an exhibition. Skin to Steel is the embodiment of a legacy.

Skin to Steel marks the official unveiling of VANTA: the culmination of over a decade of artistic evolution. Featuring more than 60 original works, the exhibition showcases fine art, sculptural metalworks, functional design pieces, and technology-led installations that together form the spine of the VANTA world.

This is a show grounded in transformation — a practice born in tattooing and reborn in steel, now shaped into objects of permanence, precision, and presence.

THE COLLECTION

The works span three curated galleries: Origins, Present, and Future, encompassing a diverse range of form and function.

From the large-scale laser-cut legacy panels that define the VANTA aesthetic, to the Signature Dining Range debuting in a fully staged Bravo Dining Experience, every object is engineered with architectural clarity and artistic depth. Sculptural garden pieces and outdoor panels stand alongside jewellery, pet furniture, and collectible art objects, forming a material ecosystem that brings VANTA into every space of living; inside and out.

Every cut is intentional. Every piece carries story. Together, they form a living archive of identity, ritual, and structure.

SKIN TO STEEL

THE EXPERIENCE

You walk into a space and feel the weight of it.

Not heaviness. Presence.

A kind of gravity that belongs to things made with meaning.

This is the experience at the heart of Skin to Steel.

The exhibition unfolds across three galleries. Each one a different tempo.

A different material state.

Together, they trace the evolution of Brea Lanyon’s work — not as a timeline, but as a transformation.

Gallery I: Origins

This is where it began. With pencil marks and tattoo needles.

The first gallery preserves the early language of Brea’s practice — visual diaries, fine art, and tattoos that held ritual. The pieces here are raw and personal. Some are reworked from the skin to the steel, reimagining client tattoos as permanent metalworks. Others remain in their original form, honouring the roots of the linework.

The gallery also holds the earliest books and sketches that became the foundation of VANTA.

This is not nostalgia. It’s blueprint. It’s memory with structure.

Gallery II: Presence

The second space holds weight — sculptural pieces, collections, and functional objects transformed into art. This is where the language of VANTA starts to move.

Panels stretch across walls, telling stories in silhouette.

The Damasca Series explores tension, layering, and restraint through the materiality of steel.

The Homage to Home collection reflects a deep connection to place and legacy, using native motifs and rural memory.

The Steel Sanctuary triptych, created for Werribee Zoo, brings animals like the giraffe, leopard, and zebra into stylised permanence.

Throughout the gallery, sculptural homewares punctuate the space.

This gallery invites presence. Not just to look, but to experience how structure can become emotion.

Gallery III: Future

The final gallery is where you meet AITELIA — the digital oracle of VANTA.

More than an archive, AITELIA is a concierge, trained on the artist’s own language, symbolism, and creative philosophies. She knows the stories behind every piece. Ask her about the linework, the materials, the meaning. She will guide you deeper.

This space also unveils the ELEMENTA series. Five towering sculptures, each representing an elemental archetype: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Aether. Each one stands over two metres tall. Each one holds a symbolic offering.

Skin to Steel is not just a showcase.

It is a lived system of authorship. A body of work that has shifted from ritual to design, from personal to structural, from skin to steel.

It is built to be felt.

It is built to endure.

And it is only just beginning.

THE INVITATION

Skin to Steel is more than a retrospective — it is the public debut of a brand with global intent. It bridges the intimate with the architectural, the ritual with the structural, the past with the future.

All RSVPs are automatically entered into the draw to win a signed copy of the book, VANTA sculptural bookends, and the Monarch Candelabra — key pieces from the collection.

This is the beginning of something permanent.

This is VANTA.

This is Skin to Steel.
