STEEL STATEMENTS VOLUME II
HARVEST
Harvest: The Architecture of Abundance is the second volume of VANTA’s Steel Statements series, presented as part of Melbourne Design Week 2026 at West End Art Space. The exhibition explores the systems that sustain us through agriculture, labour, climate, ritual, and resilience, translating them into large-scale laser-cut metal works. Developed through direct engagement with farmers, winemakers, orchardists, and regional communities across Victoria and New South Wales, the exhibition moves from root to fruit, from paddock to plate, and from soil to steel.

THE WORKS
The works combine architectural metal design with deeply personal storytelling, drawing parallels between creative practice and agricultural cycles. Pieces such as Phenology, Yield, Pressure, Vinora, and Table examine growth, drought, adaptation, gathering, and lineage through VANTA’s language of precision linework and structural permanence. Each work is informed by real people, real land, and lived systems, balancing scientific structure with memory, ritual, and emotional weight.

THE CYCLE
Alongside the physical exhibition, Harvest unfolds as a living documentary series, with a new short film released daily throughout Melbourne Design Week. Extending beyond static objects into film, sound, dining, and spatial experience, the project positions VANTA not simply as a metal design practice, but as a multidisciplinary studio exploring permanence, identity, and architecture through steel.
Harvest is released progressively across the exhibition period.
One work per day.
One system at a time.
Each piece is accompanied by a documentary tracing its origin, context, collaborators, and regional landscape.
Viewed in full, the collection reveals a complete cycle. Structure formed through time, labour, and return.
